Available Scholarships coming in 2021

Catholic Community Foundation of Southwest Florida, Inc

National Scholarship Month was established by Scholarship America in 1998 to promote awareness of available scholarships and help provide education opportunities to students. The Catholic Community Foundation currently has four available scholarships for the Fall 2021 school year.

The Mary Fran Carroll Traditional and Non-Traditional Scholarships established in 2010 provide academic scholarships to residents of Sarasota County, Florida. Scholarship applicants are asked to complete an online application and financial needs assessment in addition to submitting a clearly articulated career plan describing their chosen course of study. Traditional students need to be accepted into an accredited college or university and non-traditional students need to be accepted into an accredited college, university or vocational program. Scholarships may also be renewed annually up to a total of five academic years for students maintaining a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.2 or greater, while also making progress toward their career goal.

The Frank and Florence Coseglia Scholarship provides a one-time scholarship to one college bound senior from each of the four Catholic High Schools within the Diocese of Venice in Florida. These students are nominated by their school guidance team based on financial need, academic performance and involvement with their Parish or school.  In addition, each nominated student will submit an essay describing what their Catholic education has meant to them, what the scholarship will enable them to do, and their future goals.

Frederick W. Schaerf, M.D., Ph.D. Neuroscience Scholarship established in 2018 to honor Dr. Frederick Schaerf provides a one-time scholarship to a graduating senior from Bishop Verot Catholic High School in Fort Meyers, Florida interested in pursuing a career in neuroscience or similar field. Scholarship applicants are asked to complete an online application, financial needs assessment, and an essay on why they want to pursue a career in neuroscience (or similar field) and what they hope to achieve in the field.
