Ways to Gift
The Catholic Community Foundation is a full-service philanthropic community foundation and offers an extensive range of gifting options based upon a donor’s personal interests and financial circumstances. There are many ways that a donor can choose to continue their catholic legacy long after they are gone.
- An Endowment Fund provides a permanent source of income to the Catholic organization of your choice. This fund is designed to function in perpetuity, making it possible for you to ensure long-term financial support and sustainability to your Parish, school, Diocese or other Catholic program or ministry about which you care. Once established, anyone can make additional contributions to the fund in any dollar amount. You can choose to support an existing endowment fund, start your own named fund, or establish a fund to honor or memorialize friends, family or other loved ones.
- Scholarships and tuition assistance support promising and deserving students by assisting them with the costs of their education. Donors often establish a scholarship or tuition assistance fund because they have benefited from a Catholic Education in their own life and want to ensure that those same opportunities are available to our future generations. Donors can choose to support an existing fund, start their own named fund, or establish a fund to honor or memorialize friends, teachers, family members, or other loved ones
- Giving becomes convenient and personal with a Donor Advised Fund (DAF), which offers a hands-on approach to philanthropy. This fund invests your charitable gift to grow tax-free for future giving. A Donor Advised Fund allows you the opportunity to make contributions to multiple Catholic or charitable organizations. Donor Advised Funds are very popular because they are flexible and manageable from one simple account. It’s your “Charitable Checkbook”.
- A Charitable Gift Annuity is a contract with the Catholic Community Foundation that provides you with fixed income payments for life, no matter how long you live. Payment rates are based on age and are set by the American Council of Gift Annuities. At the end of your life, any remainder of the annuity will benefit the specific organization you designate. You also have the ability to choose a Deferred Charitable Gift Annuity, meaning that you start receiving income payments at a later date.
- If you are of the age that you have to take a required minimum distribution (RMD) from your IRA, did you know that you can transfer up to $100,000 each year directly to a qualified charity like the Catholic Community Foundation, your Catholic Parish, School or other Catholic Program or Ministry? By rolling over your IRA distribution directly to a qualified charity, it qualifies as your RMD and you avoid having to include the distribution as taxable income. Prior to 2020, individuals were required to take RMDs beginning in the year in which they turned 70½. Beginning in 2020, however, the new age at which RMDs must start is 72. Despite the delay in the starting age for RMDs, individuals can still make Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) from their IRAs as early as age 70½.
