On October 14, 2020, four new endowment funds were established with the Catholic Community Foundation of Southwest Florida as a result of a generous bequest from the estate of James and Margaret Schwarz. Mr. and Mrs. Schwarz had been long-time donors to the Catholic Church and wanted to create a Catholic Legacy in support of specific programs and ministries within the Diocese of Venice. The endowment funds will provide a permanent source of income and help ensure the long-term sustainability of each of the programs.
The Schwarz College Fund will provide a college scholarship to a graduating student from Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School in Sarasota, Florida pursuing a degree in education. The Schwarz Scholarship Fund will provide tuition assistance to students attending Cardinal Mooney High School. The Schwarz Seminary Fund will provide support for seminarians in the Diocese of Venice and the Schwarz Memorial Fund will provide distributions for Mass stipends in memory of James and Margaret Schwarz.
